The Club
Club History:
The Hertford Chess Club has been in existence since the early 1970’s. It was initially located in The Salisbury Hotel , but then moved to the TA Drill Hall at the bottom of Port Hill before ending up in its current location in Bull Plain.
This is a thriving chess club with five teams utilising the various abilities of all its members. A warm welcome will be extended to you whether you are an experienced player or fairly new to the game.
You can just turn up on a Tuesday around 7.45 pm or you can ring to say you are coming along. We have a steady influx of new members who quickly become part of this lively club.
The Hertford club itself is a delightful venue which serves a small range of good beer/coffee.
Membership costs £60 per annum but come along for a few weeks and see if you are interested in pursuing it further before you need to part with any money.

Club Policy
The club encourages members from all ages and abilities. There is a thriving junior section which meets on set dates in a separate room (not that our juniors are ever noisy!)
We have novices just learning the game, the usual "haven't played for 20 years" brigade, and of course the graded gurus who are very willing to coach the less experienced.
Just come along for a few weeks to see for yourself. Only then need you decide to join and part with the very reasonable annual membership fee!.
